looking at buying some wheel spacers to use off road..

chasing the pros and cons of using them.. maybe some real wheeling stories..

I ran 15x10 with 3" offset and destroyed a set in one night of driving...

With Normal driving and the right setup they are fine. I have run them on the vit for years and not had a problem. I spose there are Spacers and then there are Spacers and the quality could vary. Mine were made by Bruce ( On this Forum) and he ahs made them for heaps of guys and to date I have not been told of ant problems with his Quality and service.

Pro's.... You'll learn how to change wheel bearings.

the ones i am looking at are 2 inch spacers... i know they are quite wide... but they bolt on and then you bolt your wheel to that...


whats the pros offroad.. wider track obviously.

Sorry guys " Wheel Spacers" Ahhhh All the above except my post. You may want to go buy a Cruiser or Patrol and not have the problems with wheel bearings Etc.

I've run 1.5" spacers for about 18months with no dramas.
They bolt to the hub and then the wheel bolts to them.
I have not had any of them EVER come loose either, however I do check the tension on the nuts everytime I need to remove a wheel.
I have not noticed any higher rate of bearing wear.
My rims are alloy mags and are almost neutral offset so the spacers help put me just over standard track width. With 7" rims I am about 110-120mm wider than a stock WT on 5.5" rims.

my 15x8 rims have a lot of offset and i don't have a problem with bearings. i do
however toque them up according to Suzuki's specs. they also have done around 30000ks since i last
touched them and there is still no movement in the bearing. i recon
that people who have dramas with bearings either don't fit them properly or use crap grease.

That's what I thought... Continuous maintenance and checking should eliminate any chance of problems... Working in the trade you find people don't check there cars at all. They don't even know where the dipstick is.
I will only be running the spacers off road ( which is maybe once ever 5 weeks or so... It's just I come from a wider trac car (bundera) and have been wheeling with a mate and his Sierra and seen him have troubles slipping into ruts..
