Aside from evrything else I am doing to the GV at the moment suspension wise, I have a problem emerging with the A/C. Now this is a 10 year old vehicle and the a/c has never been touched, but there is now a rather noticeable whining/bearing type noise as soon as the a/c is switched on, I am assuming the compressor is on it's last legs...
I am too frightened to approach the dealer and cop a genuine part, has anyone had this on their GV? What am I up for? are there non genuine bolts ons avaialable? Or should I look at re-financing the house now to pay for genuine parts??

Recondition. Plenty of automotive aircond places will do it for cheaper then a full genuine new compressor!

Don't bother with genuine if you do replace it. Is the noise from the front or rear of the compressor? It could just be the front clutch bearing....

I think the GV compressor is the same as The Baleno one (both 1.6L engines), as I have both here, and they look pretty similar.
My father bought an all new Baleno compressor for his Hilux (with a different pulley to suit the Dyna engine), I think it cost about $380 or something, think that was from the local auto electrician.
If you want a 2nd hand one and can get to Brisbane, and the 1.6L GV is the same, PM me.
