Anyone had experience with a porous vitara block, 
The previous owner of the motor put liquid metal around the area. It has started to slowly leak and I have put a product similar to Bars Leaks in it. The leak has stopped somewhat but not completely. I have heard some people get these Tig welded but I am told this is not successful. |

I have heard some people get these Tig welded but I am told this is not successful. wrong! get someone who is an expert with jap cast alloy and you will never have a problem again and will be better than new. |

Might have trouble with the welding now as the crack will be full of the stop leak rubbish |

Seal up is what I used about a week ago, I will give it more time to see if it settles down. I do use the Zook as a daily driver. |

can anyone share anymore on this topic?? i have coolant that i have been chasing for a few weeks now that is a very very slow leak.Seems to leak down the side of the block then onto my front diff centre.I thought it was where the lower radiator hose went to the engine but tonight was thinking more the block.How much is involved in the repair? |

Check ya water pump, it has a tell tale that will leak on to the diff. |

check your core plugs as well as they can also leak. |

there is not much room to get a proper look but it seems to me as though it is the block not the water pump.You mean the little hole on the pump ??? the core plugs?more info please? in the side of the engine you mean,i have looked there but am chasing it further forward,like right up to behind the water pump |

it is a crack between number 3 and 4 cylinder. it is not common, but does happen from time to time. the only way to fix it right and to make sure it does not happen again is to get a pro tig welder to do it. you WILL have to pull the motor out as this will be the only way of doing it right. additives will not work in this application as that part of the block is also dealing with high stress loads. only tigging will fix it. |

well is joes answer replying to my problem or the original posts??mine is right near the front of the engine,could possibly be the gasket or pump but im fearing it isnt that  will go try have a better look if i have a bright enough torch

will go try have a better look if i have a bright enough torchno it is a rely to the original thread. if you have a leak towards the front it will be a water pump, as the vit blocks don't crack there..........but i have seen many a water pump spray its love goo all around that area. |

thanks heaps joe youve been a great help.and the others too. Where mine leaks to,like i said the tiniest of amounts it shows signs down the block just behind the water pump where the pipe runs out of the rear of it to the hoses.a tiny amount will pool up in the casting where it runs out to the engine mount.Still going with the water pumo idea so i can get onto it.I hate leaks |

while there is a thread going on a similar topic ill keep asking away here.today my zuk sat all day didnt get started etc but when i got home from work there was still signs of fresh fluid trickling down the side of my block as discussed in the posts above.Now without the engine running i wasnt expecting this,looks like the pipe coming out of the back of water pump or above that even. ANY IDEAS FELLAS |

Coolant or "love goo" dosn`t need to be under pressure to leak, start pulling things off till you find it, could be the O`ring at the end of the pipe, water pump, pump gasket, take the w/pump pulley of & have a closer looky look.
