hey guys, just sold my current car and am looking to get another 4x4. been doing a fair bit of research and a vitara seems to tick all the boxes but 1... boot space for camping gear.
how do you guys go packing all the camping gear into your vitaras? do you have more than enough room? it has to go in the back, cant go in the back seats as i have a new born in a baby seat (actually there is another question, do vitaras have anchor points for a child seat??)
Any pics of the back door open would be appreciated to if anyone has some (i would just go have a look at one myself but that would be a 400km drive to the nearest city to find a car yard with one in it, so pics would be handy!!
Thanks in advance guys.

they have kid seats points but they cut off half the boot space. im looking to move mine to the roof in mine to get some space back.
as for space they arent that big. a king swag will pretty much fill the space in the boot.

Comming from a registered baby seat fitter, they're has to be at least two child anchor points available. Any points that are not from factory have to be done by someone who is qualified to do so, like an automotive engineer. And they have to be within 10degree of the middle of the child seat, pretty much in the middle of the headrest.
I did read in another thread that it had been changed to the above the door spot, it just looked to be a nut insert.
As for packing for camping. I take alot of gear so first the back seats are out and then leaves me with plenty of room for crap including a 3x3 gazebo.

they do have 2 mounting points. i would never put my childs seat on a nut sert that had been put on the top of the door frame. I did think about running a piece of flat bar under the floor close to the base of the seat to relocate the anchors so to gain more room never got further than a thought got to many other things to do first. they are a bit tight for camping gear and the baby seat but is possible if you pack light. roof rack wouldn't be a bad idea.

Wow, camping packing looks like a game of tetris haha. thanks heaps guys, and thanks for the photo christover1 much appreciated, but i think I'm gonna have to see one in the flesh to decide now... just don't want to buy one then realize there isn't enough room.
Cheers again.

Ain't that the truth.
My LWB with the roof basket was only just big enough to carry everything for a weekend with the wife and 1 child. We now have a second and I know every camping trip from now on will involve a trailer....

if you don't need to worry about the Rear seats, Rip them out.
I spoke to the dudes at blackwidow draws, and they will custom fit their draws to suit a LWB Vitara looking at doing it soon
