It doesn't matter which way they go in, so long as the yolks line up. |

Yes. The bigger the angle the uni is working on the more suseptible it is to vibrations. You need to set them up so they cancel each other out. Have a read through Here |

From the Suzuki LJ50 manual: "Match marks are provided on the slip-on spline connections. Inserting the splined end into the splined bore without regard to the match marks can be a possible cause of noise or vibration of the propeller shaft. Be sure to index the marks." Pop the boot off the shaft and clean away the grease, and you'll see the marks. The boot end towards the transfer case is the right way to fit the shafts. |

303zuke you have posted a scanned pic from the manual showing index marks, perhaps you could also scan and post a pic for Kenso showing what Scrawn was saying about the yolks lining up. If you have the original manual there is a good pic on page 154 (my scanner is kaput) 303zuke and Hutch are correct, from factory the short end of the tailshaft with the female spline and rubber boot is connected to the transfer box. |

Your wish is my command, Sire! Kenso, if you're wondering why your rear shaft doesn't look like the one in the manual, it's because yours is from an LJ80, built bigger for "more torque"! |
