Hi Everyone,
I have just bought a 95 model 2 door vitara 1.6l petrol
The question is: I want to lift it to legal height (im in queensland) and put big chunky tires on it so i can get into 4x4ing. I dont know anything about this stuff yet, so any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers
Coops

I would look at the OME kit & a 2" body lift + 30" tyres, a friend has just done this combo & it rides really well & looks cool. I'm not 100% sure about the QLD regulations though.

QLD you can only have 2" lift total, ie body or springs but not both

link to bullshit internet rumour of GTFO

in qld you can have a 50mm bodylift as long as its properly approved and can raise or lower your car as long as you retain 2/3 of your original suspension travel in both bump and rebound

Lowering or raising of vehicles
The road clearance of a fully laden vehicle must not be
less than 100mm measured at any part of the vehicle
other than the wheel rim or brake backing plates.
(This does not apply where a lesser clearance has been
specified by the manufacturer.)
When lowering or raising a vehicle body (front or rear),
the following additional restrictions are based on the
manufacturer's dimensions for the standard unmodified
vehicle while unladen:
• The ride height measured between the rubber bump
stop and the corresponding metal stop may be reduced
by no more than one third.
• The rebound travel measured between the rubber
rebound stop and the corresponding metal stop
(or the extension of the shock absorber for vehicles
without a rebound stop) may be reduced by no
more than one third.
Coil springs are to remain in locating seats on full
suspension droop without forcibly being removed.
In addition, the normal relationship between the front
and rear suspension heights must not be unduly affected.
Replacement springs (shorter or taller) must have the
same or greater load capacity as the original springs.
Suspension coil springs must not be shortened by cutting
or heating. Leaf spring suspensions must not be raised
by the use of extended shackles, adjustable metal plates
or by placing the leaf springs to the opposite side of the
axle. If lowering blocks are used, they must be either
steel or aluminium.
Airbag or air pressurised shock absorber helper springs
may be fitted in addition to the original suspension.
However, replacing some or all of the suspension system
with an air or hydraulic suspension requires specific
approval.

I have always read that as long as you have the same amount of downtravel as standard you can lift as much as you want, so fit longer shocks and you are right

Hi All,
My question hasent really been answered yet. sort of went ona bit on a tangent. From what i have found out 2 inch suspension lift in queensland is legal without aproval (body lift needws approval). I still need brands and names of stuff that is good and will fit. I know Speedy Desert Rats are the rims i need? however they need some sort of flair kit to be legal with the offset the produce. (what is best?). Also i was thinking of 2 inch suspension lift on it? will this fit 30 x 9.5 inch tires. I mostly go the beach so alterrains? but i love the look of muddies... how do they go on the beach?

question has sorta and your own answers technically are wrong

2" isnt legal, altering travel in compression or rebound is legal, so for 2" to be legal youd need 6" of travel down stock, vits dont have that

ome make good front struts, springs depends on what lift and weight you have

the rims arent legal, you are allowed to increase the track by 25mm on an IFS car, you are going from 20mm positive offset to 13mm negative, so 66mm

you are allowed 15mm diameter increase on your tyres, so from 205/75r15 standard 215/75 is about the limit of whats legal, IF they ever change to 50mm then 235/75 would be legal, but its not going to happen in QLD anytime soon

just buy the OME kit, it's not a 2inch lift to start with.
