i got our jimny airborne by accident on fraser island was a big drop off in the sand going about 60ks mrs started crying lol
:P but no airbags went off

so its not just me thats been diagnosed with suzuki madness u all have it! im curently new to this forum and looking for a jimny 2 buy as it will upgrade my 75 cruiser. i have one q tho can tha air bag in the jimnys be disabled, removed, can a body lift be fitted? id love to know what every one thinks about airbags in 4x4s befor i get a jimny with them. has any one been airborne and had them go off? |

If you disable them or take them out it will no longer comply with ADR's, rendering it unroadworthy. You won't have any problems with them going off whilst 4wding. If you don't want them then buy the earlier model that didn't have them. I'm not sure about body lifts, I don't think they can be fitted if you have air bags. |

I've had no problems with my airbags. I wish I didn't have them so I could fit my timber sports wheel. You can't legally disable them and you can't body lift an airbag equipped vehicle. Contrary to popular belief the sensors are not mounted in the bumper area. And that about where my knowledge of airbags ends. Pre late 2000 models don't have them. The benefit is you get an extra glove box and you can be more creative with front barwork. The Airbag models have the sportier M13A engine, but it has more sensor driven management. 2006 on have a VVT version of the M13A. My wife has one of the VVTs and it performs much better than my non-VVT. |

oh yes well thanks you guys every one on this forum seams so helpfull i mite just concentrate on finding A PRE bag model for now and see what i can find as id like to put a custon bar n winch on it |

"Parfittron" & "Jimny" on this forum have ARB steel bars fitted to their late model Jimnys, as do a few of the other Jimny owners |

Get the VVT model, thay friggen honk!!! If your worrying about the deployment of the bag, don`t be..... so many things are taken in to consideration by the air bag module in 1000th`s of a second that it`s HIGHLY unlikely thay will go off out of boredom... Besides the fact that if it dose go off it will more than likely save your`s or your passengers life.

i had a 2" body lift on my jimny and it was good, you have to make sure you do it properly and reinforce the threads that stick out of the body- you dont want them to pull through or rust away. I can suggest getting the 80mm toughdog kit but beware that the rear diff housing will dent the rear shocks unless you space them out. I fit 31's on my jimny with 2" body lift and 80mm spring lift, Scrubbed a little bit on full articulation- 30's would be perfect. |
