Post subject:  vibrations

hey guys
as the title suggests my car starts to vibrate at speeds over 90k's.

however it only vibrates when driving straight or turning right..

and its not coming through the steering wheel. it has a similiar feeling to when i left my hubs locked once and drove on the highway but that was constant in any direction i was driving.

i pulled the locking hub bit off and they appear to be completly retracted when free.

the only mods ive done on the front is a strut mount flip and spring spacers but it didnt start doing this straight after any of these mods.

it started on the way home from stockton last week.

its a 92 swb vitara

ideas anyone??

thanks in advance

hmm they've actually never been balanced.. didnt really need to when my uncle fitted them for me.. do you reckon one of them might have spun on the rim and its completly out now?

You may have lost a wheel weight or there may be mud caught in the rims. Start with another wheel balance then go from there.

If it did it from stockton i would start at a check of everything to see if anything moves, like supension arms etc. Whats your driveshafts like? The uni's maybe going, check them for movement, as well as pinion in the diff.

Jeez i have had so many problems from vibrations

My suz has gone from death wobbles with stocko tyres. To super smooth with balanced 33's!!!! Which is weird.. Maybe my stocko wheels were..um bent..

Have you been out 4wding much matty?

swap the rims left to right, I bet the left front rim is wobbly or the bearing is loose that side

Post subject:  Re: vibrations

drive shafts all seem ok.. stering joints all look good as well... wouldnt know how to check the pinion tho... although i could do with two new lower ball joints by the looks of them, bit oily looking..

yeh uni has its perks. got this week off as well hehe

If the pinion is fooked or on its way, there may be signs of oil leaks. The pinion may move up and down as well as in and out.

If it was something bent in the steering it should have been picked up on by the wheel aligners..... IF they new what they are doing that is

x2!! They should have done a full check of steering and bearings as these all effect proper setup of the alignment.

ask Polar_Bear it's his idler arm!

I think it involved lockers, loud pedal & some hardcore terrain! 8O
