| Post subject: | toyota 5k hydraulic lifter removal |
As some people might know i have a toyota 5k motor in my lwb sierra. I have been tryig to remove one of the hydraulic lifters to replace it as its buggered but for the life of me cant work out how it comes out. does anyone have an idea how to remove them? cheers |

Oooo, fun, ever used a slide hammer? same theory, cam lobe on a closed cycle so the lifter is down, either hook the lifter with something stong or if room allow`s, grag the top rim with pointy vice grip`s & pull up, push down & repeat till it come`s, if it dosen`t come the cam will have to come out & taped out from the bottem. Sometime`s the base of the lifter will flare out making it almost imposable to remove them.. Have fun... Hope that help`s. |

pulled the lifters out of my bosses toyota 12ht motor. gotta use a telescopic pole with a magnet on the end, like 5 bucks from bunnings. works a treat. hope this helps. |

so steknig just pull it up and down untill it comes out i can get hold of it with pliers but it must be burred like mentioned |

Yep, Keep going, some time`s you get lucky & thay come easy, just keep working it. If it`s only a small lip on the bottom it should come out ok.. |

well i was out there for 15 minutes pulling on it and it hasn't budged ill go buy a pair of pointy nose vice grips tomorrow and give that a go. |

The best way to get the suckers out is with a "Lifter Puller". ![]()
