Hi All,

After todays wheel at the GH I really need to adjust my handbrake cable, so it actually does something. Pretty sure last time I attempted it I cracked the shits and didn't worry about it, I have new shoes in the back, so is it just as simple as adjusting them a bit more?

Thanks

Rusho

Do your brakes work ok when using your foot on the brake? if so you don't need to adjust the rear shoes.

If your brake shoes are ok and adjusted properly , you can just adjust the handbrake cable which is right underneath the handbrake lever (under the car)

PS. if you have been through some mud , which i assume you have if you have been to GH, then you should pull your rear hubs off and clean out all the crap.

You may think your rear brakes work ok, but it's possible it's just your front brakes working.

If your rear brakes don't work, either shoes are worn or your brake cylinders are seized, it can get pretty dangerous. If you go up a steep hill and then stop and hit the brakes and only your front brakes work, you will go backwards real fast because front brakes don't do jack shit on a steep hill.

Pull the drums off Rusho, you will have a bit of mud in there from the water crossings we did. Then back the handbrake cable right off, adjust the rear brakes and then re-adjust the cable
