hey all was just wondering if anyone could tell me how long it takes to install a 5inch lift kit i just bought online for my sierra? and how long it taes to do a body lift? cheers

well took me good part of a day to put new 2" springs in my LJ, i wasnt rushing it so i'd say a good weekend if your not rushing it.

that sounds alright then oh also does anyone know how good the diffs are in these sierras mines a 92 sj70 how big can you go with tyres for these things?

I run standard diffs with 31's, no problems yet. I'm guessing you have 2" body, 2" spring and extended shackles to get 5" lift? If you have 3" body lift then brace yourself for pain when installing :wink:

You can run 33s with no problem. but anything over 31s you really need to look at gearing or you will be burning up your clutch every weekend.

Ohhh and just sayingt your getting 5" lift is really vage you need to say what your doing.....

I am was looking into putting Hilux or 80s diffs under mine but the money needed to do such a thing you could put lockers and stronger axils in the W/T diffs and you would be better off.

Spring? Shackles? Spring overs? Body lift?

hey guys sorry haven't been on here lately been so busy bloody work. yeah after what i've been told think i might ust do the spring overs and the 2"lift and shackle lift from snakeracing what yas think. i'm kinda new to the modifying part of 4wd's so just need everyone's advice cheers draks

Did you buy the 5" kit or not??

If you're new a spring over isn't the thing you should be jumping into, it throws up a whole can of worms like steering for one. If you go down that track your standard springs are the go, don't go lifted ones. You get over 4" of lift by spring over.

Best bet is 2" spring and 2" body, as has been said many times. If you better flex go Rear Spring Up Front (RUF) with slightly longer shackles in the front to accomodate. A lot less hassle for you if you're starting off.

What did you get :?

If your new to it, get 2" springs and leave it at that for now
