Post subject:  any seats that fit directly into a coily
i want some new seats for my coily sierra and i was wondering if there was any that just bolted in

any ideas?

I know I'm just fucking with ya my mate put gti seats in his leafy I think they bolt up the same as a coily someone my be able to confirm this?

No they aren't the same. I cut the top of my coily rails flat and bolted angle and flat bar to them to adapt to a race style seat.

Me too.

here's a couple of photo's of how I did my seats. I welded up a frame, cut down the coily rails and bolted them together. Be aware when you do swap them, that aftermarket seats are a lot wider at the shoulder area. I didn't have a hell of a lot of clearance left between the seat and the B pillar.

These aren't really gti seats though. Don't proper gti seats from a zook bolt up a lot easier?

I put Swift Gti seats in my coily.

Ended up cutting out the front chassis/body seat mount, welding in some square tube. This allowed me to use the Swift Gti rails.
There may be easier ways of fitting them, by modifying the seat rails.
Never the less will not be a straight bolt in job. Fudging around with welding and drilling required.

The GTI seats are a little longer - the seat part, and the shoulder bit is wider as has already been mentioned.

I also changed over the seat belts for the GTI ones.
This may not have been such a smart move.
The buckle on the belt sits at a different hieght to the originals, and because the sides of the seat backs are closer to the B piller, is it a pain in the arse to fish out the buckle when you first get in and want to put your seat belt on.

On the plus side, GTI seats look great and are very comfy!

gti seats in my leafy, all i had to do was drill a couple of extra holes.

if there is a will there is a way---- you may not have to weld new brackets is all i mean.

my leafy seats had M6 bolts holding it together where the gti ones have M8. so are a little safer.

I reckon it's best to use the existing rails in the factory holes. If you are smart, you can use the factory rails and mounts, the factory seat belt mount on the rail (with a longer 7/16 UNF bolt), and not have to weld anything, or re-drill the body, which might make whatever you do easier to pass a mod plate inspection, and a whole lot safer.
