The term is "spoa" Spring over axle. Many people have done it. But why do you need to? Im on 33's spua. Spring under axle. There are many heated threads about this suspension conversion. Probably be better if you search alittle first then ask a few questions. |

Wot they said. Without trying to start WW3, SPOA is an expensive and complex conversion. It's very easy to put the springs over the axles. It's expensive to sort all the other stuff the conversion requires - steering, shocks, mounts, driveshafts etc. There's no truly "bolt on" kit to perform this mod - there's always some amount of fabrication and problem solving. General consensus is that very few SPOA cars are confidence inspiring offroad, even though they might have good wheel travel. There is no difference between the tyre size you can run with either suspension set up. Gearing, axle strength, legality, chassis clearance and lots of other factors limit tyre size, not where the axles are located relative to the springs. You need to go into a SPOA conversion with your eyes open and with enough budget. It can be done well if you have the time and money. Steve. |

Guess the SPOA isnt as easy or good as I was lead to believe. The front tyres are scrapeing on the rear of the springs when at full lock each way so will spacers get the wheels out far enough while leaving enough thread on the studs? Being road legal isnt a worry for this project. Cheers for the comments/advice. Rito |

Hi Rito, welcome, good to see you are spending time before you spend money. IMO spend as much time as you can learning about a mod , then go out and spend lots of money and do it wright the first time. And remember you get what you pay for.
