Hi all just trying to work out if the Clown car I got for my birthday is a WT LWB or Not? Just checked the I.D Tags and build date is 9/1990 it is a Maruti 1Ltr also says MG410WT on the tags as well. I haven't run a tape from WMS to WMS as yet but can you tell just from these details? Thanks in advance Robb.

I think it'll be a NT. I dont think the WT maruti's were until a bit later. But post up the measurements, they should confirm.

From what i've seen the WT in the model no. doesnt actually stand for wide track

ALL marutis had steel grilles, regardless of track. rob, do the spring hangers sit in-line with the chassis rails like a nt...or do they sit 40mm outside the rails like a wide track? :wink:

Thanks for Quick Replies guys!

I just ran the tape from WMS to WMS and it is 1240mm-ish and yeah Joe the spring hangers are inline with the chassis so must be a NT? but the WT threw me I was thinkin/ Hoping the Maruti being an Indian Build may be quite different to our Aussie versions maybe?

Just jumped on the OL bible and found this:

Track widths wms - wms
NT
Front 49 WMS
Rear 49 WMS
WT
Front 52 WMS
Rear 52 WMS

So it's confirmed! 1240mm-ish = 49 inches So it's a NT :( Ahh well another WT diff conversion on the ever growing list of things to do then! :lol:

Yep. NT maruti's have 1L diffs, so 4.1 ratio. Not interchangeable with 1.3 diffs.

They are interchangeable, Maruti's actually have 1.3 diff centres with a 1 litre ratio (4.1) which is why they are sough after.

i think he is refering to the set of 3.9's rob might have lying around :wink:

as far as i know, narrow track marutis are small 1 litre diffs with 4.1's, the wide tracks have the larger 1.3 style diffs with 4.1's.

I have only had dealings with 2 Marutis a wide track that was wrecked out at my son's work and a narrow track that belonged to Marutizook off NBS both of them had the 1.3 style diffs with 4.1's but being from India I suppose anything is possible.

MG410WT

MG = Maruti
410 = LWB
WT = Wheely Tuff
