Hey guys.. So the Title says it all pretty much... When I let the clutch out in my sierra it makes a clunkk noise as it ingages.. Dad reckons it's the rear diff? The rear bush thingos were worn out so we replaced those last Friday It helped a bit but didn't fix the problem... What do you guys reckon? |

I had a similar problem. Found that my jackshaft unis had almost self distructed. |

IMO, definitely wouldn't be the rear control arm bushes. Watch you gear and transfer levers - do they move at the same time as 'clunk'? As people have indicated, get under your car with 4x4 engaged and check for play in jackshaft, and both tailshafts, and inspect uni joints and mounts. |

My 94 does the same thing, does it when i let the clutch out or on/off the gas (not that it has much) As Brendan said I am just assuming slack in the drive train. At this stage it isn't a loud enough noise to warrant investigating. I put it down the the fact it is a 15 year old 4wd and is bound to have wear in every bit of every part of the whole car. My initial thoughts are a uni joint somewhere as i remember my 1st Holden Kingswood (Ah those were the days 3.3L 3 Speed Auto, would only spin the wheels on a wet, oily road) Had the same noise almost down to a tee. I replaced both tailshaft uni joints and once again all was well. Cheers Jason. |

engine mounts, gearbox mount, all three transfer mounts okay ? sometimes it's just how they are, i mean they drive like a little truck, especially when your in your first year of driving they can be a handfull. i'm not saying it's not there, just a consideration. |

Engine mounts are good, Dunno bout the gearbox mount, transfer mounts im not sure about either.. I did my 100Hours of leaner driving in a 262kw Subaru WRX with semi slick racing tyres and tonnes of other Mods before I got my P's.. so yeah the zuk does feel abit like a truck |

did you end up checking the jackshaft uni as someone mentioned at the start?? just asking this as a mates 1 litre was clunking badly for ages then the other day he finally got under there and the uni was so shagged,it was almost chewed right through the yoke and about to break off. Rip up the carpet in my zook and you would see a split floor from driver footwell to passenger footwell from aprevious owner having the uni let go and the shaft go through the floor nearly. My car makes a little noise which i just put down to the backlash in drivetrain etc? |
