hey peeps,are most people just running the four bolts and crush tubes through the chassis? when on big tyres. are they strong enough this way? even when winching etc. cause il eventually want to cut the outriggers off to allow for bigger tyres.

nope not anywhere near strong enough, wont even cope with running roo's over.

who else has fitted an arb bar? cause another thing im worried about is... when i put the bar on i followed the supplied instructions, put the crush tubes through the chassis mounted bar and tightened the bar but its almost as though the crush tubes are to short! cause the chassis has folded in onto the crush tube but its folded about 4mm in. so im worried about it cracking the weld around the pole tht joins the rails.
im thinkin about putting a washer in between the crush tubes so the rail doesnt have to crush so far. or am i jus bein a fussy bugger? thoughts/opinions appreciated.? and yeah i put the longer crushtube at the top as specified.

you do realise there are two different sized spacer tubes? the arb bar mounted with just the four chassis bolts is fine for hitting roos etc, its the force applied when winching that will cause probs. this is ok if you are just pulling zooks out, but for more strength add more fastening points.

yea joeblow i realise there are two crush tube sizes.
the longer one goes at the top.
the bottom bolt doesnt need to crush as much as the bar is inside the rail, hence the smaller tube.
but even though the longer tube is in the top it still seems to pull the chassis rail in to far for my liking. or is this normal? its almost as though the longer tube should be another 3-4mm longer again.

joe, the ARB bars rotate and the bottom bolt hole on the mount opens up.
mine did it and i have seen a few others that have done it. it may just be because i am rough but.
