i think it's a good idea, one time cost can run a shock designed for a jimny with the sheild chopped off as they would probly be a small enough diameter not fowl on the shock tower, could also use jimny springs..

i think it would be safer and more stable to make a bolt on mount to the diff which incorporates a new mount for the shock, you would also not have to play around with bushes too.

spacing the whole thing up 2 inches.

but with that gadget you could use longer shocks and coils.

Sam or any people with coily suspension experience,

would having longer shocks and creating more flex on a coily increase the likelyhood of cracking control arm brackets on the diff? or ya reckon they would be ok?

looks like they are going okay in the jap man's car, but ideally i would run them with some aftermarket control arms for sure, which i think soon we may have a few more, more reasonable priced options to choose from.

i think the way he has it is perfect, it means that it is still pivoting from the same point on the diff housing where it is designed to rather than introducing a new higher point with possibly more leverage.

This setup if designed correctly to fit a certain diam shock would act exactly the same as intended by Suzuki in the design of their mountings. i don't believe the shock itself should have bushes i think it should be designed to solidly mount the shock to make the whole setup as rigid as a normal strut. This means that most likely a pressed rubber bush with crush tube (look like mini control arm bush) much like what Suzuki has in their standard strut would need to be in the new part.

I think your way of thinking may end up causing the possible unsafeness and instability your trying to avoid. Just my thoughts, no idea though untill it was tested.

you could always brace the control arm brackets. depends on how the car is treated i suppose....

oh yeah, only really have issues with rear brackets anyways, ive never cracked any front ones. i thought you said control arms.
