Hi all,

Have been looking around for a shiny set of wheels for my SV420 Vitara, and its fast become apparent that there is approximately sweet FA out there thats available. Allied wheels here in Australia only had 1 rim type suitable that I wasn't over the moon with, and I haven't been able to find anything at all off any other well known wheel makers.

I had been looking for a 16x7 rim (5x5.5" pattern) without much success. Browsing overseas ebay though, there are quite a few rims available with the correct stud pattern that are 16x8.

So quick question for those in the know, will the extra inch rim width cause me any dramas on my Vit? And if the rims will be okay, can 225 wide tyres be stretched on to a 8" rim or are they going to be too narrow?

If an 8" rim is going to be to wide, does any one know of any other aftermarket alloys to suit?

One last bonus question, does anyone know what offset the standard 16" rims are on the SV420 Vitaras? Looked all over the net and had a bloody good look for a stamping on the rim but havent been able to find it yet. Or failing that, what kind of offset should I be looking at to get a fair bit wider stance? I am chasing around an inch each side, hence my I'm wanting to know what the standard rims are...

cheers,
Moses

Keep looking, they are around. I'm guessing you're specifically looking for used wheels?

Where are you located?

If your in Brisbane go see Ryano at Fourbys. Or even give them call if not local. He is more than willing to help out.

Nah I'm looking for a new set. There just doesn't appear to be much/anything around suitable. I know steel rims are available but was hoping to find a set of alloys.

Quite literally the only 16x7 set of alloys I have found here in Australia with the correct PCD are the Jungle Machined Alloys from Allied Wheels (http://www.alliedwheels.com.au/4x4-alloy-wheels-2.htm). BBS/Bob Jane/CSA etc all have a shedload of 4WD alloys, but nothing in the right stud pattern.

Does anyone know if 16x8s going to cause an issue on a Vitara? And what offset should I be looking at if I do get them? At least if I can use 16x8 rims it opens up a whole shedload of options from Eagle Alloys overseas etc.
