I'm after a bolt in roll bar for my hardtop Sierra. Are there any online Aussie stores that sell them? I'm not after anything fancy, just something that is relatively cheap and effective. (Something like a single hoop behind the seats or similiar) Would prefer if it bolted in rather than being welded in.

there are a few people operating on the net here who may be able to fabricate you one mate, alot of people do these things in there spare time. I would keep an eye out and pm people in your area who may seem interested. my mate did this same thing and got a 6 point cage done for around $600 privately.

saam is cranky today... what saam said is true, someone on here will be able to make you one up for a fair price, just not many people in ACT though. you could always go and see any local fabrication company and they will make you one, there are a few up here in wollongong.

If someone here has the time and generosity to fabricate me one that would be fantastic and I would be very thankful. I really don't know anything about roll bar design let along making one myself. All I know is that they are well worth the investment and have the potential to say a life (aka mine). I haven't the faintest idea what one would cost but I think I'd be looking to spend around $200 (with a bit of flexibility) I don't mind travelling to pick it up but not too far. I was thinking of something like this (forgive my awesome paint skills):

noob CAD is the future... I'd be wanting some rear stays to stop it folding over if it goes pear shaped.

This is a CAMS approved cage for a Vitara with a harness bar behind the seats.

Are they legal or do they require a mod plate?

rollbars are great in a motor sports situation where a helmet is worn.

i was looking at getting one made up for my LWB sierra in the not too distant future. Same sort of idea. Mainly to attach racing harnesses too (seatbelts are in need of replacing). If u find someone on the east coast let us know.

No offense buddy but you should double your budget atleast!!

I can and do make cages, and there is no way I could justify my time, labour, shop and material costs to make you or anyone else a bar like that for less than $350.

Don't forget that in most cases you get what you pay for. A $200 roll bar is gonna be press bent shit with dints from the rollers, and most probably; poor welding.

If you cannot afford to pay that much then just keep your eyes open for a second hand one. They do come up for sale from time to time.

Thanks for the advice Pete Like I said, I really have no idea about roll bars. I'll save up a few more pennies and get a proper one. I'm not one to take short cuts. That Vitara one looks exactly like something i'd be after, but for a Sierra. I'll keep my eye on for any second hand ones too.

i dont know whether it would be registerable, would it? but for 80 bucks it would be worth the risk. if only i could get it back home.
