Next Friday I'll be dropping the car off to get an engineers cert done for the 2" suspension lift (leafs only). As I have no intention of failing, I would like peoples input for things I need to check before hand. All I can think of is: -brake lines not stretched, -tyres don't rub, -bushes okay, -shackles okay, -U-bolts secure, -springs mounted to diff correctly. I'm sure i've forgotten some things so let's hear it! Cheers, Jimmy. |

What size tyres do you have on? He will look at that. Also why do you need a 2" lift engineered? |

2" Leafs only?? Jeez. I thought 2" body and 2" spring was allowed unengineered. Steering links dont bind and full lock steering is still avaliable. With only 2" springs though he would'nt even have to test anything as its probably one of the most common things on any sierra! |

ACT works off of NSW engineering/road laws... 2" does not need to be looked at. |

I got slammed taking the car over pits. My standard springs have sagged and i've replaced them with OME ones. I know I could just put standard springs for the sake of passing but i'd only take them out straight after. I'd like to have it engineered anyway to minimise any possible "defects" in the future. (I've been defected for pointless shit so many times and i'm completely over it) The car will have standard rims and tryes on. |

That's very interesting. You wouldn't happen to have a link to the specific ADR would you? I would LOVE to go down there and prove them wrong. |

ADR doesnt mean shit cause you arent manufacturing a car get onto your local transport website, they will have a brochure about simple mods |

Just go over the pits with the ome springs. They are only 40mm lift anyway. |

2" springs are fine in ACT, you can't get a defect for that. if your bushes are shagged or you have longer shackles you are introuble. dickson pits are a bunch of wankers. if your a young fella and you have to take it back over to there get a older respectful looking person to take it or take some one that knows there stuff. if you still have a problem ask for there details and make a complant. i've had my problems with them before and i had a mate have a brand new ba xr8 when they came out failed by them. he (worked for the ford dealer and the car was on a tilt tray) was taking the car to get the tint ticked off before it went to the owner. they failed him on height, noise and seat belts. car was stock except for the tint. the person that failed the car doesn't do inspections any more. |
