Post subject:  Any holden drover owners out there, I need help

Gday Folks, my lil suzi, a holden drover has stuffed front uni joints, and tho I hardly ever use 4wd, its time to fix it.

I am having trouble identifying the uni part number, suzi uses (toyo) RUJ-1795 it has a 25mm cup and internal circlip.

This I found out is not what im after, I think, its a RUJ 1501, 22mm cup and external circlip.

I have 4 of the wrong ones, and would like to not buy another set of wrong.

Anyone out there know size or part number for sure.

When talking to suzi there is 20 different sizes.

TIA David

Do you have one out of the car? Can you measure the cap OD and the width from outside of cap to outside of opposite cap?

Alternatively......

Swap all the shafts out of a SIERRA 1.3 NT and never worry about some oddball uni joints again.
Might cost a bit more initially but will make life easier later on.

I am not sure but wouldnt it be cheaper in the long run to get a full set of used ones off a suzuki that way you have the more common size? I am talking about replacing the complete shaft? I know I have seen a few full sets going cheap in the bits for sale. I could be very wrong but it that is possible that is what I would do.

Jas, that could be the go, they may only be 3mm larger, but thats a 12% increase in size.

Trouble there, I rang suzi and they say there are 20 different Unis for sierras, ?? If so, what do I get.

sounds to me the suzuki one you have measured is from a 1.0 litre as they have an internal circlip.

the drover is the same as all 1.3 sierras and there is no need to cahange shafts as you do not have an oddball size. whenever i change unis in a 1.3 i allways order 1.6 vitara ones  .........they are the same.

as for someone saying there is about 20 types for sierras......i think they are full of shite.

yeah what he said

if you have the type that the clips are on the outside of the cup you can use the unis you bought with the old clips anyway

Howdy folks, I have replaced to stuffed uni, mechanics wrong, AZ right.

The cups were 25mm, but as said, external clips, not internal, so, as Royce said, used the old stuffed clips on the new ones.

Mechanic said no way, totally wrong, but it worked.

I will only do one to start and see how it goes, if it looks and feel good, I will do the lot with the joints I have.

thanks all.

I have ordered 2 of what I think are the correct Toyo unis, theyy are part number.

902018 so if anyone is looking for a set of drover Unis, there they are.

Will wait till I see them, but after lots of searching, I think I have it.

The RUJ-1795s will work, but you have to use the old circlips, not the ones supplied, or, get new ones.
