The wife's 95 LWB Vitara driver's door needs to be moved back about 5mm, so it shuts properly. At the moment, the wind noise is bloody annoying at speed, but the passenger door is fine. After some comparisons, I noticed the incorrect alignment of the driver's door.

So, I'm assuming I'll need to adjust the hinge placement on the body, but I'll need to remove the guard to get to the bolts. There's 4 or 5 bolts along the top of the guard near the engine bay, but I can't see where any other botls might be. Anyone able to advise?

5 along the the top of the gaurd

one up infront of the rear veiw mirror ( can see when opening door) and another opposite (can see from under bonnet) to that on the same peice.

there are two down at the bottom of the gaurd under the plastic trim where it bolts to the sill.

there is a screw underneath where the grill screws in (better to carefully remove grill, which means removing bumper)

and you will need to take the clips out of the inner gaurd.

OR if you take the inner gaurd plastic sheild thing out you could easy get to the door hinge bolts

so yeah just remove inner guard liner don't worry about the guard.

Adjusted the door today, hoping to get rid of the wind noise. A little bit tricker than I had hoped. Ti get to the top hinge, it really did make it easier to remove the top screws and move the guard away from the body.

Anyway, I think the rubbers have retained their shape from the old position, as they now permanently sit a mm or so away from the window arch. I think the only way I'm going to fix this is new door rubbers. Any idea how much they are?

is your door frame bent ?

i had to take a bend out of the door frame and also adjust in the latch to get doors to seal on a swb vit.

Maybe it is - a panel beater offered to "massage" it back into place.

Could it also be the hinge bolts on the door side, as opposed to the body side? I was wondering if I loosened the top 2 bolts and one of the bottom bolts, maybe the door might adjust in a bit?
