Hey guys back again with another qustion lol
Now that most of the forum have suggested for me not to go for the suspenion lift and go for lock diffs,
Ive called up ARB and got a quote on front and rear air lock diffs fitted, and its gona cost $3300, and thats with the deal they got goin on as well, free full size air compressor, tyre inflation kit and tyre repair kit,
How well do the ARB airlockers work and are they worth the 3gs, thats front and back as well guys
Cheers keith

they work very well. as shown by the comp guys using them.
Are they worth 3Gs? thats a matter of opinion. you dont really need locked diffs to drive alot of stuff. Locks make lots of people lazy,

Yep you can start with just one, rear is probably the best to go with. You can add a front at any time.
Have you thought about just putting gears in it, like it was suggested in the other thread?

I have a air rear and 6.5s I did gears first. This allows you to have more control over your car which is good when with lockers you'll either climb it or keep going till it's on it's roof. Gears making 4wdn more fun and less stress on the car

I wouldn't do anything to the car until you actually need it. Wait until you go 4wding all the time and figure out what you need, or you might be spending $4500 on gears and lockers and never use them.

FYI front and rears can be had for $2122 (Sierra). This includes the compressor and free stuff. If you give them the centres, you will save A LOT as you've done all the hard work. All up, they can be bought and installed (centres only) for $2382, and that's with no connection to the seller or supplier.

stock suzukis shock people each and every day with how far they will go. i have been driving a sierra for 6 years now and only find about 5 - 10 percent of tracks that i can't drive without a locker. save your money for lockers untill you find you need them.

There was one time lockers would of helped me out lol,
I was crosing this sanding river bed, my mates walked it for me to see how deep it was, just under the knees, wasnt to bad, so we went for it next thing you know hahahah stuck
the chasie was sitting on the sand and the wheels were just spinning well 1 or 2 were lol
But i do want yous all to know that im not going to rush into anything, thats why im asking all the qustions and taking in all your replys/info with open hands, like i said before first 4WD ive had so, making sure i do everything right the first time with out wasting money and time

I just got a rear locker fitted and did some reasonable steep and difficult rock climbing.
They definitely made a difference. I could have made it without the rear, but would have had to use more momentum, which means a heightened risk of damaging something or rolling.
I have just ordered a front one as well. Should cost me around $3,200 for my Jimny Sierra all up.
As others have said though - best to see if you really need them first. I will definitely be tackling much toughter terrain that I would have avoided without the confidence that lockers provide.

Lockers are all they are made out to be GREAT but only if you need them.
But if you need one or both front or rear is all up to what you are wanting to do with your zook. In short here is a run down as it was put to me a few years back.
Front lock is for if you are wanting to do a lot of rock's and very steep climbing to help pull you up things.
Rear lock is for if you are wanting to be in the mud and slippery stuff as it will push you through stuff better.
To have both is best as it can do both blahhh blahhh blahhh.
But is the money spent worth the gain?????
As mine is only a weekend basher I am doing a mini spool in the rear and air lock in the front.
But as already said a few times no need to go over board. You will gain sooooo much more doing gears and they are much cheaper.
I can get 6.5 rock hoppers for $600. They made a night and day differance in what I could do on stock diffs.
But do what you want with your money. Just remember the money spent is for you , you will never get back as much as you put into it.

Keep in mind that the quote is for the centres alone.

Mate honestly put gears and a spool or lokka in the rear and in time put a air locker in front. You will be 10 steps ahead of yourself with less then half the cost.

$599 for gears if you know where to get them
Welding is free but shit...
A mini spool is only $100 USD (this will make your diff locked like welding but the correct way)
Lokka $300 give or take $50
I ama fan of the front airlock because I am lazy and dont want to have to get in and out to lock and unlock my hubs.

Lockrite lockers are the way to go imho.
3k is way over the top.
I have lockrite F + R on mine with 31's and its my daily driver. It can cause some slightly weird behavior in the wet if you push it around corners but nothing that is dangerous ( i suspect a standard sierra would behave somewhat weird as well if you pushed that much as well).
I think I managed to get F + R complete secondhand diffs with lockrites for $900 a few years ago.

In my opinion lockrights are garbage...
I had a bad experience with a rear one, so I ripped it out and sold it.
I reckon lockrights are for people who don't know they want an airlocker just yet.

if you are only new to it mate then 3300 is big dollars and could make the car go way beyond your capabilitys.Might be worth learning a bit about the car and your skills first.I have only ever had mildly modded sierras with rear locker as i do now and it is crazy what they can drive.
I am about to put twin lockers in my hilux, dont really know why yet a rear would have been enough. The ARB deal till the end of this month is a good one i must admit but if you wait a while, get gears first then go locker or lockers the compressor wont break the bank account too much.

If you do go with the lockers, ask if you can get the larger compressor so you can also pump up tyres. The small one won't do tyres at all.

that's my thoughts on the locker situation, heard way to many lockwrong stories.
plus air lockers make that cool noise.

My 2c,appsie
totally agree with this... you learn the correct lines and how you car will handle certain situations by starting without all the extras like lockers.
lockers do come in handy. but the best bang for you buck is definately transfer gears. they give back alot of control.
my last ride, also my first 4wd, was a bundera lifted 6 inches and running 35's, i got sucked into thinking that higher and bigger is better and that you need to have lockers and gears and all that sought of stuff. but the sierra shits all over the bundera and its nowhere near as modded.
oh year... post number 90..... 10 more to go till the magic 100

learning to drive a stiff, wheel lifting zuk with no lockers will teach you alot hey. Will make you learn to pick lines, judge obstacles more etc and probably make a better driver of you.
Lump a charcoal....the deal til november 30 is the small compressor free with one locker and the larger one with inflation kit free with twins.Definately good buying
