Here's the scenario....
I was driving my daughter to school this morning and accelerating in 3rd and as soon as I hit my indicator to merge in the left lane and that's when the engine just backed right off for less than a second then it went back to normal. I deliberately tried to see if it would do it again and it wouldn't.
But then on me way home it done it again another 2 times.
At night when I've got me lights on and indicate, my lights dim at the initial flick of the switch which i'm assuming is the alternator.
Do ya reckon these might have something in common?
Oh yeah it's a 99 Jimny.

Cheers
Woody

I'd be looking at the camshaft angle sensor. Seems to be the normal problem with jimny's.

As for the dim lights thing - how long are they dim for? A split second, or longer?

I'd say a split second would be normal.

I'm betting the cam sensor for the power loss, before you replace it, remove it and give it a good clean, mine was doing the same thing and has since come good after the clean as it was a bit sludged up..
The Headlight thing I cant imagine being linked to the alternator, I'm thinking more along the lines of the switch (indicator/headlight) or possibly a dodgy earth or power cable somewhere, check all your earth cables and remove and give a good clean up, if the engine earth lead was corroded and not making good contact, it could possibly also cause an intermittent engine problem (although unlikely).

How far is the drive to school?

If a cam sen is on it's way out it normaly take's around 1/2hr of 80km to 100km per hr to start to show up.
Is it the m13 or the g13 eng?
