Heres a lil list I have compiled

Best options (can get m8's r8's)

For one, there is a big difference in size between the 215s and the 30s. If you are running stock height then the 30s will probably scrub like crazy. As for which, well thats a matter of personal opinion, everyone has their own preference...

bfg's are crap they are the most dangerous tire you could have on the road in the wet weather the are like driving on ice.there are 2 types one is made in the usa and one in asia the asian one doesn't have side lugs. i have them on my suba they are good off road but the side walls don't bag and they are crap on sand. pirelli's are all right clog up a bit in the mud. cooper's are really good but are to expensive but i have seen them off road and they go better than my bf's. the i'd probly go the mickey thompson's but they are expensive to.
if you want the bfg's get the silverstone copy they are cheaper and still have a 3 ply wall

Yes I do realise the size diff between the two
I have 30x9.5r15 on there at the moement and only get scrubbing at full lock to the right

They will need to be good in the wet, I live in Tassie where the weatrher is usually crap

225/75r15 would probably be another good size?

Just contemplating whether i want a skinnier or wider tyre, any opinions?

I'm on my 3rd set of BFG's and I love them. Never had a problem on wet roads.

The old Radial All Terrains didn't have the side lugs

I had a drive in a Hilux that had a set of Coopers and they were crap!! It was locking up under medium braking in the dry!! 8O


Tyres are a personal thing, everyone has different experiences with them, be it good or bad.

If you want a good all terrain tyre, then you can't go past the Mickey T's ATZ. I had them on my Landruiser 80 series and we were very happy with them... Like others have said, they are expensive... I can't remember if we had the 4 or 5 rib design... here's a pic anyways...

Doing some official reviews and make your mind up that way coz everyone has their own opinion and it can often come down to the car you are driving - weight etc...

For me the new MFG muddies are the bomb for my Jimny - they actually bag very well, but you need to air down a fair bit for them to work properly in softer sand.

Cannot speak for mud at this stage, but they work great on rocks.

I'd go the mickey T ATZ but in a 4 rib design, they are an awesome alrounder and the 4 lug instead of 5 makes them a bit more aggressive, choppy has them on his pootrol and they are good onroad and off.

will cost more then the others but choppy's have like a 80,000km guarantee and thats o na big pootrol, the vitara would weigh less there for have less wear on the tyres = awesome value for money

i agree SI3RR4, the ATZ are the one of the most aggressive AT's out there... i think anyway. they look awesome and are amzing on and off the road, bag out a lot aswell, got a bit of noise for an AT but have heaps of tread and come with 80,000k warranity (as long as u rotate and other crap). im exceptionally happy with them on the pootrol. more expensive but they last forever espically on such a light car. def 4 rib aswell, as shown in mine and rpmwrx's pics

ohhh that suks 4 rib is awsome... but yeah 5 rib or cooper ST, price seems good too. 5 rib will be better in the wet but ST wil probably be better offroad.

the only other problem with coopers is the are realy noisey and they go hard and then the lugs brake off. mickey's would be the best

Silverstone Mt117ex, grip well int the wet(road), very good off road on all surface's & will still sit on 180kmh on 15psi!

I've got BFG ATs on the GV (225/75/16) - and yes very dangerous on wet roads - i had a small prang 2 weeks after i put them on! :( they lock up WAY TO EASILY!
