Hiya all,
I'm starting to get yet another new strange sound from the engine. When I accelerate from idle I get a very short squeaky sound. I don't get any power loss or anything like that. In the recent hot weather I sometimes get the J20A timing chain rattle on startup which lasts for 5 sec or so.
Could both be related? I use 5W30 full synth oil and have had no problems with it up till now but with the very hot weather we've had lately the startup rattle noise now appears. I think the oil is too thin for the weather. I am about to change over to 10W40 and see how it goes.
Could the squeak be from the timing chain tensioner? Or could it be from a loose belt maybe as I load up the engine off idle? I've had slipping belts on previous cars and it doesn't sound like that at all.

Something easy to do is check the tension and condition of your timing belt. In my experience a losse belt starts to slip under full acceleration and just gets worse if you thought it could be that.
Mine looked pretty ordinary so I replaced it for $40. I need to replace the little belt going to the radiator fan 
I use 10W30 in my J20A.

I just turn up the stereo to drown out little squeaks and rattles, if it's important it will get worse till I have to do something.

J20a is chain, your thinking drive belt

J20a is chain, your thinking drive belt I'm guessing it would be the drive belt that runs the power steering, water pump & alternator... mine sometimes squeals when wet.
what does the condition of the belt look like? is it cracked, shiny & glazed.
