I want to get a quick disconnect sway bar for my 09 Jim.

I'd like it to run above the drag link, for 2 reasons... for clearance, and because under the draglink, it cannot be swung up, as it hits the draglink.

I'm not aware of anything off the shelf in australia.

Although Europe has a much larger Jimny following and the range of aftermarket accessories/ Mods is far greater over there. Might need to spend some time giving google a thrashing

Or custom made ones here???

I disconnected the one off my suzi, its sitting in the shed, at road speed, no difference anyway, only when wheeling can you tell.

I had the mechanic who does all on my cars come for a ride, and I asked him if he could tell what i had done, on the road, he had no idea, when we hit the dirt, as he has come out with quite a bit, then he twigged.

Maybe for the faster cars, definitely, but ole girls with big lifts and tyres, naaaa, total disconnect.

Leaf is a bit different to coil tho, the coil's on road without the sway bar handle like shit.

I do agree with you on leaf sierra's tho.

I disconnected mine some weeks ago to see how it handled. On the road, I thought I was gonna dive the front corner in and flip at one point just doing a U-turn.

On the highway is just dangerous. Straight line ok, but as soon as you need turn even slightly, feels like your riding a jet ski.

Off road, I was really impressed with the extra articulation I got.

I dread to think what it'd be like with the ARB bar and exo cage I am having installed

I've had a look at the disconnect Tim (ODA1) is getting in and I think it's a great option, may even get one myself.

I towed the trailer up to D.I. a couple of weeks ago and had not gotten around to reconnecting the sway bar. I often leave it for a couple of weeks after wheeling through sheer laziness. With the weight of the trailer on the back taking some of the weight off the front end it was damn scary at times. We were tailing a truck at one point and the wind turbulence from it were causing the Jim to sway in a straight line. Scary!!

It's OK around town once you have a feel for it. No fast maneuvers and no braking while cornering.

im thinking aobut pulling sways out just for one run to see how i like it and if i feel that its ok with me at the wheel lol i might leave them out

Yeah, they are good. I mandated that the rear bar become #1 priority. After all, i kinda need this to be able to use the vehicle, ie, indicators and number plate. This also needs to be done for the rear roll cage hoop to mount to anyway.

Went in today.

Front bash plate - done.
Front roll cage hoop - done.
Front chrome-molly radius arms - done.

Still no sign of the rear bar. This is a key component and is required for the rear of the roll cage to mount to, but I still have not laid eyes on it.

Any chance you've found one to fit SV420 Vits?

Did a lot of searching a month or two back but didnt really find anything available here or overseas. Most people seem to just take them off, which I would rather avoid for on road handling/legal issues.

i can go for my p plates now but i still havent mastered the handbrake take off and reverse park


im kinda gonna cheat the handbrake take off by using my pops diesel

nissan patrols had a cable operated rear sway bar disconnect that you may be able to adapt to a Jimny. gq wagons from memory

Was only heading out to Aspley to visit my Grandmother but said I could go the extra miles as I was half way there anyway. Chris has helped me out a couple of times with advice so thought it was only fair. Took my Gran for the drive as well LOL

Was promised today, but more delays.

You were really helping out Derek as he was going to drop them down, but thanks.

It seems that they do not fit in the rear diff centre. He is going to have a closer look and see if it can be modified and check that the front fits tomorrow.

I'll be down there tomorrow hopefully to help out.
