Hi this maybe covered somewhere else but a mate of mine has a '75 hj80? and needs to replace the 800cc engine, will a 1.3litre fit? any suggestions welcome cheers Carl |

Can we clear something up... we are talking about an LJ80 (suzuki) here, not an HJ80 (landcruiser), correct? If so... Dunno bout a 1.3 but a 1.0 definitely does. Bolts straight up just about. |

Yes the 1.0 block/head is the same as the 800cc. You will need to use the 800cc sump and oil pick as the 1.0 sump will hit the steering relay rods. You will also need the 800cc distrubutor as the 1.0 leans more to the top and the bonnet hits it. It is a straight forward swap. 20% more power! |

Hutch is correct re fitting a 1 litre. 1300 is a good way to go but a lot more modifications to make it fit, if you go 1300 there are sump to diff clearance problems to overcome as well, also you will need the 1300 gearbox as the belhousings are not the same, gearbox crossmember will have to be cut out and a new one fabricated, gear stick will come out in a different place and interfere with the heater. |
