Heyyy, Quick question. does anybody know what the coolant capacity for a std 1.3l Sierra is? how much should it drink? also does the choke control the opening and closing of the thermostat?

dad disconnected the butterfly of the choke and now the thermostat doesnt seem to open..? thanks Myles

The opening and closing of the thermostat is controlled by coolant temperature alone. There has to be coolant flowing through it to work. The best way to test it is to stick in in a bowl of hopt water with a thermometer and make sure it opens/closes at the right temp.

The figures you want are:


Cooling system capacity: 4.8 litres
Thermostat begin opening: 82 C
Thermostat fully open: 95 C
