So the clutch on the Jimny Finally Died today, but the thing is this, it feels completly different to normal, and when I push the pedal it makes a whiney squeaky noise and the engine dies. Pretty Stuffed I'd say.

time for an exedy :D

When I was 18 I had a 1999 Jim and had to replace the clutch and flywheel at 7k. I was young stupid and drunk doing circle work in a parking lot and check a curb.

Now I am still a little crazy but I dont need the drinks to get me bouncing off the walls :)

Wouldn't know. I work in a dealer ship! 8O

It's about 4.5hr's ( total not including waiting for flywheel machine.) for some one who has done it before, I have seen my apprentice take 9 hr's, lot's of skinned knuckle's & a big slap to his ego.

Yeah all the exedys i've ever had have been great, so we will see, just going standard clamping force, I dont think 60kw requires heavy duty

hey guys recently i bought an 03 jimny that had done 138 000 km.

but in the last week the clutch feels.................different.

i dont really know how to explain it but when i push the clutch in it sorta feels like its 'jumpy'. like running your nail across a series of ridges or ribs.

so its like smooth, resistant, smooth, resistant etc but very fast. almost like a vibration.

also when the jimny is idling and in neutral i can hear a rattle noise but when i put the clutch in it stops, then when i release the clutch it starts again

i guess thats the best i can explain it with out actually talking to you guys.

anyways, my question is, has my clutch had it? Is it easy to replace? as i dont really have the money for a new one (just got an ARB bar)

I'd say its on the way out, the shuddering is what mine did, and the noise will be your throw out bearing starting to go, be gentle on it and you might get a few more thousand out of it, but start saving up for a clutch.

I'm getting mine for $550 fitted (thats what I was quoted) so shop around and get some prices

thats what mine did. at 150 000 pedal started to vibrate when depressed. i did the job myself. cost 200 for a clutch and a couple of hours... maybe 4??? but the gearbox was a nightmare to pull out and i got lucky with the flywheel. turns out the friction plate had thrown the little springs and the pressure plate broke a release spring.
