Post subject:  What is my Car? X-90?

Hello,

I bought a '97 vitara the other day and the manual that came with it says vitara x-90.

Is this the right manual for my car?

Is it the same as the vitara?

Thanks

SK416 is the factory term for it. Your manual should cover that

aren't they SE416's for the 1.6's & SV420 or SV620 for the later model with the 2.0l motor?

Its covered in gravel dust but it looks shiny in the photo :P

So its a SE416 :)

I'm assuming the manuals on the site are american. Theirs seems to be SQ416.

Might have to buy a haynes manual if i can find one.

Actually. How do i know what engine is in it?

Easiest way is to look at the engine number stamped on the block. But looking at the car should be a G16B assuming its the stock motor in the car...

No, I've got "full frame 4x4" on my Gv & not all do, there are a few different sticker's you can buy genuine that aren't a std fitment, make's you think your an individual  8O 8)

The SQ's are the next series, like stekky's GV body shape. The SQ416 is the two door (1600) Grand Vitara.

All the basic parts are the same between the cars (SE&SQ) ie sparkplugs, oil, oil filter. Not sure about the clutch bits tho..

Post subject:  Re: What is my Car? X-90?

Its proabably better not to refer to any kind of model code with em, it just confuses people, especially when buying parts

given there was a model change in 97 as well I would be sure to tell people its the 95-97 model not the later one

Will do. I will just buy the standard clutch and cable from them and try do it myself. Now the poblem is the flywheel. Obviously cant machine it myself and cant seem to find anywhere that sells them.

A local brake & clutch workshop should be able to machine it up, if not could point you in the direction of a shop that could.
Don't pull the box out by your self, have at least 1 strong mate to help, the vit box altho not overly heavy, are long & almost imposible to man handle by your self.
And please, please, please USE AXEL STAND'S if you jack the car up, last ting any of us want is to hear that you have squished ya self under a car..
