Ok so today was the first time I have heard of this. I have looked it up on search and it is talked about but I can't find any pictures or a explination as to what exactly it was or what parts are used. I never heard of it till a random guy I ran into started talking to me about my sierra. He has a LWB N/T that he is building up so he can make more when he puts it up for sale. He asked how I had my SPOA set up and I showed him I have the normal steering with a Z in my steering rod. He told me that he had the Mercedes benz highsteer set up. I didn't ask questions as I was in a hurry. What is this guys can you please shed some light on this for me? Pictures? Part numbers? Reason I am asking is I get merc parts extreemly cheap and I would like to see what it would cost me. Secondly... I already have a cheap highsteer kit well kinda. I have the part that gets screwed onto the hub with the brake caliper but not the steering rod. What cheaper options have you all found for that rod (between the pitmit arm and the hub) I called snake racing and they want $285 for it.... Any ideas??? |

The other one will not work remember there sterring boxes are on the other side and if you look at the bolt ups the curve in and are drilled differently they wouldn't work over here. I just want the steering rod. |

wow that zukikrawlers page has a wealth of info on different parts like the master cylinders and brake lines that kinda crazy and the rear brakes with park brake... hmmm Thanks this is great... |

with the merc arms from memory when a mate done his,dont you end up using a NT tie rod and you have to shorten up the tie rod end??WT ones are way too long? And the holes have to be slotted on the merc arm to have correct bolt centres or as my mate did press the arm and close it up.Sounds a little scary in a way |

rocky road does the best bolt on high steer arm by miles. it is a one peice machined arm that replaces the top king pin assy and bolts on using those 4 bolts and the two brake caliper mount bolts (6 bolts in total) per side. want to buy a pair of arms dave? I removed them when I pulled out the spoa on mine |

Then go to Brake Pro they are in thornliegh just nere where I work and they will make them up for you cheap. |

The standard steering arm has the rong connection on the end and secondly its too long and thirdly its too week and fourthly you know mine is bent to the shithouse already |

so i went to the wreckers today armed with the following pics and info asking for 'steering arms' and he told me he had some but they are called castor arms. then he comes back with something totally different. he then seems to think what im after is off a bmw. since the info i gave him was from the states do they have different models to us out here??? or is the guy just a moron?????

I will re-phrase. Have one made. What some have done in the past is to drill the taper out of the steering arms, then make a rod from 30-40 OD steel Bright bar and have an internal thread machined into the ends allowing the fitment of a left hand and right hand threaded johnny joint/ heim joint. Assuming you get some high rated molly joints and used 12.9 hardware, there is no reason why you cannot run a custom rod safely. Besides, ther rest of your zooks' legallity is questionable at best, so whats wrong with a custom steering arm? |

I have dropped it back down and yahh its all ready to be looked at. So your right it isnt legal right now but but all it is missing is the slip.
