Just thought i share a discovery that might help people.

Everytime i lose my keys and i take my 'master-copy' to get cut at a more expensive locksmith rather than your shopping centre keycutter booth.

This is because everytime i get it cut at a MR. Mint it lasts about a week then no longer freakin worksImage

I put it down in the past to dodgy blanks, the locksmith i go to uses silvia blanks made in italy.

Well it turns out that is not the problem, i just realised today the shape of the key head is slightly different which results in the key itself having 1mm less clearance. Ten seconds with the angle grinder and one of the Mr.Mint Keys i have kicking around started the car! photo included so the more "visual" people can see what i have done.

on a small serious note it really does make sense, the pins in the ignition barrel are like 2mm apart so if the key falls 1mm short to the ed then the whole thing is out

yer i no

im just saying 1 mm is like the slightest fraction off the key so when u think about its a small messure but it makes a shit load or difference funny isnt it

Since the pins/wafers are like 1mm thick, then it would make a difference
