Hi
The Vitara Manual here is for the later model with ECM so the air con wiring is different.
The manual on CD I have says it is too dangerous to work on the A/Con and tells me nothing !!

what do you need to know? the electrics are mostly a case of switch to turn it on, a temp switch to turn the compresser on and off and a pressure switch to turn if off if the pressure is off

factory ones may have an amplifier like a sierra which youll need to get it to go

I have a haynes diagram (basic) and another from the US, I will email them to you ..

Royce - any idea what the amplifier actually does ?? I know its got lots of electronic "bits" in it ... always puzzled me what it actually amplifies ! AC is either on or off !

from what I understand the amplifier basically is a big box of transistors working like a bunch of relays

all the inputs go in, it looks at it at decides what to output in the way of compressor on or off

it can be bypassed easilly but the A/C doesnt perform as good

Thanks to Wendy for emailing me some wiring diagrams but either I did not get the AC "amplifier" (minicomputer) with it (it came out of a wreck) or there is an earlier model that did not have the "amplifier" .
I know I could wire it to operate the compressor clutch and fan through a relay but a wiring diagram would help identify the wiring colours.
