Quick query…

I’m thinking about having a crack at installing the rear lockright auto locker this weekend (front can wait till I’ve got a steel housing).

Has anyone come across any forum threads or web pages specific to Vitaras/Sidekicks etc which may assist me with this task (whether it be just an overhaul, an auto locker or air locker etc – just anything which may help in general)?

Since I’m not going to replace the side gears, I believe I can make the change without having to go get the backlash reset etc is that correct? Are there any other consumable parts I would need to replace while I'm at it (seals or gaskets etc)?

Any other advice/tips?

cheers,
Moses

Hey royce
that link is a complete how to on installing a lockrite. It would be good to edit it and make them pics from a zook and add it to the tech section

Thanks all. Yes it did come with some instructions but they are a fairly generic how to, hence why I was hoping there would be something specific to suzukis.

Did a bit of searching on the various suzuki forums and found this which should do the job nicely.

Suzuki Lockright info - Ack's Faq

If anyone knows of any other articles though I would still be keen to know about them, can never have too much info :)

cheers,
Moses

EDIT: Another generic lockright install guide I came across (not suzi specific) in case anyone else was interested.

EDIT 2: And a samurai one which I imagine would be fairly similar

Alright guys, need some urgent help with 2 quick queries regarding the install.

My stock diff set up had 4 thrust washers (2 on each side). Do I still need to use all four of them, or should I just use 2 now like the (fairly generic) lockright instructions say?

Also, the new cross pins that came with the locker don't have holes drilled in them for the locating pins, they are just solid metal bar. They are the correct length and everything, but I fail to see what holds them in now. Am I missing something here?

Or is it no longer needed as the pins don't have spider gears spinning on them any more?

doesnt the ring gear hold the pins? Ive never seen a vit center but sierra ones do.
there has to be some free play for lack of a better word for the locker to function so at a guess thats where you get it.

there is still a min and max clearance specified that you want to keep too after you remove the shims. check you are within that or the locker will be a pig or wont lock properly.
