I wanted to know what it is he has it conected to? I have mine almost exactly the same but coming up the other side and they are all pointing down to help not get any water in them. It looks like his are almost capped off. |

Definitely diff/transfer breathers. |

Yeah they are diff/transfer/gearbox breathers. I put the bit of hose over the top just to stop mud/dust falling directly into filter. |

I am using one of those wanky pod style filters instead of the stock air box as a temporary set up until I get around to putting the airbox in. It has been temporary for a year now! I will get to it eventually as I'd like to run a snorkel so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for ideas. |

Unifilter. Going to make an airbox around it soon, with a snorkle coming out of the passengers side cowel panel and into the engine bay through the firewall.

This is what i made up. I found the airbox at the wreckers, not sure what its out of, but it was 100% steel so i could mod it easily, plus it takes a commodore sized panel filter, nice n cheep.

i would not go that far. the vitara manifold allows a virtualy straight intake, the jimny (which i think is in pj-zooks pic) will need some serious bends. here's mine.

mines sorta like joes but not as flash Mine had the 90* bend so i cut it off and just have it running in a straight line now couple of bits of flat bar mount it to inner guard.
then i ran a snorkel out of it through the bonnet, its not flash in any way(hopefully soon ill make a exhaust tube one)worst thing about it is i cant have a 2nd battery up in the far corner now due to air box and flexi hose

not talking about donks, is reference to the intake manifolds. you have the same as jimny. |

I intend swaping the baleno box for the 1ltr airbox in the future The baleno intake doesnt leave much room for brakes, lucky im not boosted.

Thanks for the pics and ideas guys! Keep em coming. Think I have just finalised my setup. Will throw some pics up soon. Ive noticed that most of you seem to have a body lift that no doubt will give you wayyy more space to play with. Ive managed to squeeze the 16v in without a body lift which is making a neat airbox setup not a easy task. Dan |

Ok after alot of hummin and harrin' this is what ive come up with. Uses all the piping from the 1.6 and 1.3 airbox setups and retains the original 1.3 box. The only additional piece i needed to purchase was the blue reducer. Clears the bonnet but quite a bit+I also dont run a body lift in this one.

I have just changed mine. It used to be right up against the slam panel but I have moved it back so I can use a shorter flexi pipe to the rest of the intake, and so that I can put the overflow bottle back in it's stock location.
If I move the charcoal canister I should be able to fit a 2nd battery in there if I want to. I do have to relocate my washer bottle though. Because of the odd shape of the Vit airbox it's hard to get it to mount properly in the Sierra. This is how i picked up one of the mounts, it works really well.
That's just some M6 threaded rod cut to size, nuts to suit and some large dia. panel washers. On the opposie corner I picked up one of the original washer bottle mounts with a small bracket made from flatbar.
Note my guard chop for virtual lift in the background |
