sierra gear box problems???

Post subject:  sierra gear box problems???

my white sierra i bought it was stuck in 2nd gear and you could move the gearstick in a full circle with it doin nothing what could possibly be wrong??

where should i start to try and find the problem ??

By pulling the g/stick out, could be the bush so flogged out that the stick has come out of it's home.. :roll: :P :P

also could be the pin bit on the shifter sheered off, will give the same feeling

It's the little bolt that locates the shifter, screws into the back of the top plate where the shifter goes in

Replace it with another gearbox you have laying around :)

pull that bolt out and if it doesnt have a thinner no threaded bit on the end dont jsut pull the stick out!!!!!

undo the plate and fish the broken bit out of the groove in the shifter first, so it doesnt fall down into teh hole

im not too sure what im looking at or if something is wrong but the shifter groove looks a bit thrashed out..

where is the bushing and were can i get a new one ??

i was thinking of opening up the box as i thought it was mroe than taht before but im really not sure aye

well the pin that usualy alows them to wobble around is still there... thats what usualy causes play like that.. hell yeah open her up!

looks to me like the bush is missing. the bush goes over the top of the knuckle (the ball part of the gear stick) and holds the shifter in place once you tighten the three bolts back up. make sure the gear box is in N when you put it back together just makes it easier

would anyone have a pic of the bush that i maybe missing here as nothing else came out when i took that off ??

other wise if its not that ill just start pulling it apart see how i go :)
