Yep, another thread about this :roll:

Anyway, my question is a little different. I've been looking how to do this and it is pretty tight in there. One "nice" way to do it would be to have the bottom mounts going to the chassis and the top mounts going to the body.

Usually I wouldn't do it like this, "just coz", but after having a good think about it I can't see how it would be a problem. Well, unless the body moved in relation to the chassis, in which case the radiator would be the last thing on my mind.

Thoughts?

Personally I wouldn't do it...
The vibration of the chassis is usually different to the body and I'd think that would accellerate fatigue in the radiator joints.

Would the body/chassis twist on articulation be enough to twist the radiator? Probably not, but it might be enough to cause troubles.

I ran my bottom mounts off the chassis crossmember and the top mounts up from teh sierra mounts on teh chassis and it all fit with power steer

though I cant see why you wouldnt do this

I can see where you guys are coming from, and have had to have more of a think about this.

The standard Sierra rad is solid mounted and if I did the same with the Vit rad to the body/chassis I can see it could quite possibly cause some problems.

The bottom mounts of the Vit rad are rubber, so i'm thinking they will allow the rad to move a little bit with vibrations or, as Scrawn suggested, under articulation.

Just the same, I'll have another look at solid mounting it to the chassis top & bottom.

I guess if you used some really soft/flexi mounts you may get away with it?

hey damo, i can't see why you would want to do it this way?

also sierra panels are to thin to support them selves, even with big mudflap washers it would eventually twist and damage the body....

Mostly coz it's easier. Too much stuff on at the moment and to be honest I am sick to fucking death of working on the poofter bastard piece of shit!

I would think if anything should the body twist in relation to the chassis it would fall off the bottom mounts

Don't lie!! You love it. Still have NFI why yours overheats with the 1.3 rad tho. Must be a dead rad or something is up with the waterpump or u have a clogged water jacket somewhere.

Had mine running for a couple of hours just above idle at home and you can still put your hand on teh front of teh 1.3rad forever without burning it.

OK so I know I'm going to get flamed here but i had the same "can't be stuffed doing it properly" attidude when installing me new sierra radiator with the 1.6. I mounted the passenger side stock and the right side to the head light bucket. Both solid mounts with no rubber. I've been running it like this for 2 years now including trips to fraser double island and the tracks here at ormeau. Not had a problem yet.

To the flamers I know i shouldn't have but I did :mrgreen:
