Carby question
Is 32/36 webber carby the right one
for a 1.3 sierra?
If so , does anyone have one for sale
And are they worth it , any problems
Anyone knows of , I have heard they
don't like steep climbs , starves it of fuel?????

it gives you a little more power while being a very well designed japanese carby it will give you fantastic reliability. and when fitted looks stock.

webers are great but require alot of time to get set up correctly. Better to stick with a sierra, Vitara or 4k corolla carby as they are a simple bolt on and go carby

the XE XF webers can be adapted to work but the jets are way too big. easier to get a escort or cortina one.

Pretty sure the falcon carbs were a 34ADM carb (34/34), but yes with an adapter plate they will fit and work.

Somewhere I have a 28/36 DCD carburettor. off a 1500cc Mk1 GT Cortina. I think this size might be better suited to the small block suzuki?

hey thought i'd hijack this thread if you dont mind hardknocks, (didnt see the point in starting another webber thread). im gettin a 32/36 webber put on my 1.6 in my sierra on thursday and i was talking to the guy about the problems with stalling and agnles when 4x4ing. he said most of these issues come from people buying webbers off ebay and other places and chuking them when there apparently "street" design models which can only handle 15% angle, where as the one his putting on mine is slightly different and can handle up to 27% angle. i think he said something about the ports being different ... the guy seemed very genuie and i was just wondering if any one else had heard this or something similar before??

He most likely has extended the fuel bowl breathers to achieve this. The problem with this carb (and most other carbs) for offroad is that they dont have a central fuel bowl, hence gravity tends to alter the fueling on different angles etc. A weber IDA would make a great offroad carb as it does have a centralised fuel bowl, sidedraughts even more so as they have centralised fuel bowls at the lowest point of the carb. Stocks carbs are ok but again the fuel bowl is off to one side, hence it will richen up on one side slope and lean out on the other. Quite satisfactory as more often than not your side slope angles are far less than your climbs and descents.

Yes they are not perfect and will stall on moderate slopes. I ran one for a few years as found it quite good overall as I don't do 100% hardcore offroad driving everyday. Simple carb and once the jets are set there really isnt much to go wrong with them compared to the stocko one.

thanks mate, im pretty sure he said all the parts from the "street design" ones are used in this other model but it allows for for higher % inclines ... cant really remember though. similarily i dont do hardocre 4x4ing, do go out to glass house but not the hectic tracks yet, and i use my car as a daily so i should benefit greatly from the upgrade.
