| Post subject: | G13A lacking power? |
My truck's motor is rather gutless and struggles to get anywhere near 90km/h. To maintain this speed I have to have the accelerator flat on the floor. The motor has only done 108,XXX km's and has been babied all it's life. The truck is stock apart from some 215/75/15's. Do I need to clean the carby out or have the tyres upset the gearing that much? |

Same tyres as i run, and I don't struggle.... (G13BA though). Still I would suggest that the performance is sub par, and the carby would be the place to start... |

A good tune would do it good along with plugs leads and filters |

If you replace 1 thing in the list of performace changing mods then you won't notice it, but if you do, plugs, leads, GT40 coil, oil+filter, air filter, fuel filter, and a can of carby cleaner down the body of the carby, it will feel atleast by the seat of your pants faster.... |

Check out that the throttle is fully opens when the pedal is flat to the floor. With my mates sierra it wasn't opening fully and would only get to a top speed of about 90kph.. After we fixed this had no problem getting up to 110 (that was with 31" tyres and using a gps not the dash) |

First things first, do a compression check. No amount of new leads, rotors, dizzy caps, carbs or EFI systems are going to do dick if you have low compression. |

Yep, fuel tank Fatzook. You gotta be quick with the fuel cap once you've emptied the bottle in but..... |

Is the engine a dog in all gears, or just runs out of puff at high speeds? Can you rev it to 5000-5500rpm in lower gears, or doesn't it get that far? |

It has had a tuneup, new plugs and leads but it didn't make any difference. 303zuke: It'll get to about 4k in 2nd but after that it just runs out of puff It'll rev to redline in neutral though. |

X2 Look for the secondary vacuume actuator. Follow it's vacuume lines back to the carby. Try and blow through them as they are most likely carbon'ed up at the port where they enter the carb. If it runs outta puff at 4k then its most likely running on a single throat. Dan |

x3 on the secondaries.when my zuk was still 1.3 it flew with the first motor but had wrecked head, then with new motor was a dog up the road due to vaccuum lines being put on wrong by me |

If you're looking from the drivers side fender, the secondary vacuum actuator is the diaphram on the left side just under the auto choke hoses. |

Description fixed But, if you can't figure it out from this description, then I'll take a stab that you won't know how to check it either. Maybe best to get a mechanic look at it. |
