Ok as everyone knows the sierra isn't made for speed but i was just wondering if there are modifications you can do to the 1.3litre to get more power. things like iv heard on other cars like with a Vl commodore you can swap the head for a Rb 26 head and it bolts straight on.

even small things, so far i'v changed filters and new plugs and leads. just want some more power for around town while i save up for my 1.6

Cam, port & polish, high comp pistons, go elec water pump and fuel pump and thermo fan, extractors and exhaust upgrade and rejet or replace carby with bigger one.

you can get some chrome things from Autobarn, but apart from that i wouldn't waste money on it.

You will find it hard to find a difference between a 1.6 engine and 1.3 so i wouldn;t even waste money on small things for the 1.3.

ca18det make mounts and then it will bolt in but say bye to your diffs, i have broken 6 rear diffs with 1.6 efi

You can fit a 1.6 16v block under your 1.3 head. It may be a bit more then you wanted to spend but it gets you one foot closer to what your wanting in the end. It will give you more power and split the total build cost between now and when you finish the EFI

Only problem with that is you have to find someone willing to split a perfectly good motor to sell just the block, OR buy the whole damn setup anyway.

My advise is to stick with the 1.3 and only do minor repairs where needed, and save the rest of your cookies for a complete 16v conversion.

If you have someone near by that has a 16v sierra, perhaps you could get them to take you for a spin.

So your telling me that 1.6 16v engines dont have head problem????? These zooks are getting old and when they are insured and blow a head they are getting to the age they will wreck the car due to the price leaving a good block at the wreckers.
You would be suprised how many of the blocks are out there. People have been after the heads for a cheap fix to the cracked heads leaving a good block. I found 4 different wreckers in my area that all had more then one 1.6 16v block they were willing to part with.

Its still a bandaid on the whole power issue.
I stand by my comments to just go the whole hog. Anything else is just a half measure.

I only did mine this way because my 1.3 bottom end was bad (crank bearings chewed out the block and rings no longer held compression) and I didnt have the money to do the hole shabang in one go.
