Post subject:  Vitara Body Lift
I bought Just_Cruizin's 2" BL for my SWB vit, but I got some troubles.

It came with all the bolts to replace the old once, but I can't see where to take the old ones out. I've got the metal cup, bolt and rubber thingo off the bottom and everythings undo, but where to the bolts come out and the new ones go in?

Which bolts are you talking about? The captive ones under the seats? They are meant to stay, the female bolts supplied in the kit thread onto those.

well if you can see the bottom of the bolts then probably directly above that.

I thought that's how it worked, but dad said otherwise. Had to show him pics before he'd agreed I was right!

You should know by now not to listen to your dad :roll: :lol: :lol:

They are welded in from the top of the floor. You can get them out but it's a bit of work. Just_Cruizin designed it so you don't have to chop anything.

Yeah dont listen to ya dad he wouldnt know hes just a silly old man who know nothing. Dont say stuff like that young blokes have enough trouble listening without extra encouragment hahaha. i only hope i know as much as my old man when im his age.

@ScrawnC Well the kits finally in after 2days and a LOT of cursing, yelling and smashing stuff.

The kits sturdy and im happy with it. Instructions were easy to follow (apart from 2 bits) and all went smooth(ish).
Still gotta put everything back together now and hope nothings busted. Oh, and bend the transfer levers unless I wanna drive in 4H and only use 1st, 3rd and 5th. Could be interesting :)

I think you can get away with trimming the holes in the tunnel and the metal rings that hold the boots down. I could be wrong, I don't play with Vits :D

Feedback is appreciated, especially on the the 2 bits that you were stumped on.

That's to Scawny for the help sorting the issues.

Yes, try trimming the steel rings that hold the boots on, normally they just need a little extra room to flex. other then that you may need to remove the levers put them in a vice and give them a slight, I say slight, bend. Less is more in this case.

The two bits that got me were probably my own missunderstandings and issues with not really knowing my car.

The first was the "handbrake bracket". I only found it after my mate came over and got under and showed me where they were. Terrible placement.
Can't remember the other thing that got me lost either, but if I remember I'll post here.
Gunna have a good look tomorrow at the levers, and I need to fab up something for front/rear bumpers because I can see them being an issue in the bush.

While my mate was round, he showed me where the swaybar was (im still a complete noob). I know it's offtopic, but will removing the bar increase my front IFS articulation much? Learn't heaps while under my car.

Removing the sway bar on leaf sprung Sierra's makes bugger all difference in 'feel' on road but does help with flex. I'm not sure about IFS Vit's. Have a bit of a play and see what you think. I reckon it will make bugger all difference in flex but I could be wrong. It is illegal to remove them too :wink:
