I have just joined this forum..I haven't had my Sierra 1990 model for very long. It was fairly stock when I got it and I would like to make it just that little more capable. So far I have fitted new EFS shocks front and rear.
I am now about to purchase new springs and tyres with my choice being OMEsprings and Maxxis MA-751 tyres.

I believe there are 2 different levels of stiffness and I would like to know the advantages and disadvantages for both?

Is there any other things I need to do with the EFS/OME setup like shacles bump stops etc?

I plan to do a little travelling towing a small offroad teardrop van I intend to build. I am not a full blown off road person ...well not yet ...but would like to know I have a capable little suzi that would get me into those out of the way places.

The tyres I have chosen I believe give me a good allround road dirt sand mud etc ability. Your opinions would also be appreciated?

hey mate are u gettin new starndard springs or are they 2" lift?? if lifted you will have to extend the bumstops to ensure u dont bottom out your shocks, also if its going to be lifted are the shocks extended?? if there not theres not much point lifting as the shocks will be fully extended when u've still got room in your springs to move.

With the springs, the stiffer ones are really for if you will be carrying a heavy load in the car. Thats the only real consideration there.

As far as the Maxis 751s they're ok. I have them on my zook at the minute. They're nothing special but they do the job.

I bought maxxis b4 christmas. Very happy so far. Much better than the coopers in the wet. They were like driving on glass. Maxxis' were about the cheapest "name" brand..

Thanks for the response ..... Thats interesting about the coopers. Were they the ATRs cause they were one I was looking at?

Is it right to assume that the bumstops nead to be extended for all lifts?

I used to use the maxxis 751 on all my work utes, they are a great road/gravel road tyre. they are quiet , grip well and really last.
they arent fantatsic offroad in mud and dirt buy I think they'd be great in sand. All up a great value tyre.

If your looking at more offroad and mud got the maxxis bighorn.this is whay I'm running on the utes now.

The coopers were ATR's. wear was good at 130,000 klms. The maxxis seem to have the chunkiest treat pattern for at's. they hum a lot more then coopers. Haven't done any slippery work with them yet. maybe go to Thompson dam area in a couple a weeks.

Not necassarily. You need to extend your bumpstops either if the shocks bottom out on up travel or the tyres rub up under the gaurds on up travel
