So I asked the missus if she could drop into Suzi West to pick up a new/used brake booster and master cylinder rebuild kit today so I could have it ready to fit on Weds.

She rings up Suzi West who tell her that they have them both in stock, she checked before she went which is the right thing to do so she didnt waste the trip. It takes her a while to get ready as she has to get our 9 month old ready also, put him in the car, take him out of the car when she gets there and put him in the stroller only to reverse the process to come home.

What a fucken waste of time it was even ringing the wankers before she went. She gets there and they ask which pistons I have or master cylinder is fitted to my Sierra? As you can imagine this kinda of upset the missus and after arguing with guy (the same guy she spoke to on the phone) for a few minutes, she stormed out of there.

As she said to me after on the phone and to the guy in the shop, Why the hell didn't they mention that there was two different pistons or master cylinders before she went out there, the guy recon he told her and was basically calling her a liar.

So the Tech part of this: Is there a way to tell which master cylinder I have with out pulling the thing apart?

What are the two master cylinders that Suzuki put on the 1989 Sierra's?

On th side or under the master should be a number, that number tell's the size of the bore, it will be in inches so expect to see fraction's.

eg 1 5/8, 1 9/16

This will be the size he is chasing, as for not telling your Mrs, no comment.

Hope this help's :P

You may be better off just replacing the whole master cylinder. Rekitting isn't always successful with alloy cylinders.

Or pull it out and get a staino sleeve put in it. More $ but you know that it's not going to stuff up.

Thanks Steknig for the input mine says 2 7/8.

My beef was that the guy at Suziwest could have just said the number is on the bottom, the missus could have rung me and told to walk outside and look at my master cylinder.

Its a little more obvious now what was going on. Spoke to the manager of the place this morning. They dont have a master cylinder rebuild kit in stock and they dont have a brake booster either. The boss was not to impressed that we have been given the run around or that we were treated this way.

Thanks for the input but for the 200+ bucks difference in price I'd rather take the chance that its only going to last another 10 or 20 years.
