I'm about to do an engine oil flush and renew my oil/filter due to the timing chain rattle coming back.

I'm also going to try some oil stabilizer for the first time.

Which viscosity oil should I use? I was going to use Castrol Magnetec 10w40 but with the oil stabiliser should I use a thinner oil, like 5W30? I've used 10W40 before and has been fine, I then changed to 5W30 which was fine in winter but was too thin for summer (which was when the timing chain rattle came back).

It's for a J20A GV.

I have heard of Morey's being recomended in these 3 threads, I ALWAYS use nulon engine flush on every change & mine has just cracked 134,000kms.

I've checked out those threads already but it doesn't mention whether to use a lighter grade oil when using the oil stabiliser or not.

I've found 5w30 too thin for Sydney's summer and changed to 10w40 which helped for a while but now get the rattle for about 30sec each morning on start up.

Nulons what has been used in the last 5 dealerships i have worked in. But I know lucas is some gooooood stuff. A little home brew shit is mix some petrol and ATF 50/50 and put about 500ml in about 100ks before your going to drop the oil ((((DO NOT RUN IT LONGER THEN THAT)))) It will clean out just about any engine. Its what they did to the army truck in the afgan war. ( I usetoo play rugby with a few miltery boys back in the states) I have tryed it a few times and works wonders.
