G’day guys A friend of mines brother is going overseas in a months’ time for a few years and is looking to off load his car to make some money before he goes. It’s a 1994 Suzuki Vitara JX, its stock as a rock but also has a fiberglass roof which is a big draw card. At the moment I currently have a 1986 1 liter sierra and it’s a great little car, I have had it for about 3 years now and have done a few mods on it over the years and spent a fair bit of money on preventative maintenance. My current mods are: Body lift 2 inch suspension lift extended shackles 31 inch simex centipede It does everything I need off road the only thing that shits me is I can do 100km/h fairly easily but just don’t put a hill in front of it otherwise it will start to drop down to 80km/h, its bounces around a lot as you feel every bump and if it’s windy it hard to keep it in a straight line when the gusts of wind come across the road. Ill most likely mod the Vitara so that I can fit my centipedes underneath it, but over all what are they like on and off road? I’m just a bit worried ill regret getting the Vitara is it might be a case of the grass being greener on the other side of the fence. |

The only things I regret going from sierra to vitara really only relate to coolness factor of a modified car going to one a lot more stock and soft top to hard top, but its made up for by many other things |

Keep the Sierra. Get another car for daily duties. Thats the way to go! |

One thing about the sierra is it looks a bit tougher, I can wash it out with a hose. I also have a skyline as my every day car. |

I have owned 2 Sierra's, the 1L and 1.3L, and then i got a Vitara a year ago, and i have no regrets ! The Vitara is much more stable and really drives very well onroad, due to the much wider track, and coils... and it has the 1.6L engine, he he, they are a great daily drive... But if you think the Vitara wont be as capable offroad, dont worry, they do very well, they still float over sand ! So yeah, NO regrets, i think the Vits are great ! Not sure the Sierra owners will agree... |

Not sure the Sierra owners will agree... I had a Vit and it was ok.... Better on road for sure... But if you have another daily then that is largely irrelevant... The Sierra definitely goes places the vitara didn't... I wouldn't trade my sierra for my old vit... I'll stick with the Sierra for off road and the Swift for daily duties! |

Well I love my vit heaps, but the main drawback I see if the IFS and the alloy diff housing (from what I gather, 31s without a GV steel housing and a few hard hits makes alloy diff go PEWF). Oh, and the expensive mods like lifts (compared to sierras anyway) Does the Vit your getting offered have the EFI or carby? |

I have a 2009 Sierra and a 2007 GV and whilst the Sierra is far superior off road I would take the GV as a daily driver any day of the week. I'm not overly familier with the older GV's, but the latest models are good on sand etc, but really fall over in ruts and tougher tracks due to ground clearance and car based suspension. Having said all that...I would sell the GV before I sold the Sierra as they are way more fun IMHO. |

It depends what you want from it. If its going to be offroad/daily i would take the vitara. If its going to be a second car Sierra for sure. |
