hey guys i was up DI over the w/e and i noticed in 4wd (and hubs locked) there was clicking noises whilst turning sharply at low speeds, when i went back to 2wd with the hubs locked the noise dissapeared, same with unlocked however now back home in 2wd (hubs not locked) the noises have come back, also when turning slowly the steering seems abnornamlly heavy until im goin a tad faster. does anybody know what the problem is, i was thinking CV's. i only ask such a perhaps obvious question as i've never had worn CV's before or had this issue.

ps if it is CV's does anybody on here do them or work for suzuki and get them cheap

Im thinking it could be the CVs but i dont know why it would make the noise in two wheel drive with the hubs unlocked

Cvs wont be making any noise in 2wd unlocked.

Sounds are hard to diagnose over the internet.

just took it for a spin and no longer making clicking noises in 2wd unlocked. however the heavy steerin was still concerning me, i remembered i screwed with the RTC dampner up DI, played with it more before i went for a drive and could hardly keep the thing on the raod it was veering left that hard, pulled over and adjusted as far back the opposite way as i could and steering became much looser. do RTC dampners usually have this much effect ?? could it have it been causing the noises?? steering bushes?? the brand of the RTC is 4wd 1, ill check for the noises in 4wd locked tomorrow.

alos i belive this makes no difference but ive recently takin the sway bar off about a month ago...

Noises= Try unadjusting the RTC and see if that makes a difference, its the only thing you have touched, noise might be coincidence??

yeah gonna give it a go in 4wd locked tomorrow, hopefully thats the cause and its as simple to fix, cheers rusho , ohh by the wayi rekon a bright orange or green coily would look sik, if not stay the colour as is.

so took it to my ,mechanic (my uncle) basically whole front end is F*#^!D cv's broken, one hub missing srping and never unlucked (hence why making noise one side in 2wd unlocked), seals gone, bearings gone, whole thing was full of sand and just plain F*$@^$D from the previous owner . . . thanks mate. POS is annoying me and costing WAY too much money

any one do CV's for a good price or can get a hold of a good condition secondhand set??

if the fornt was this bad should the back diff assembly be checked?? was thinking of doing diff breathers like rusho and want33s' and now im definately going to.

Also, smashed cv's are dangerous even in 2wd!!! As they can fall apart and lock up the steering knuckle!

You are lucky that didnt happen! Then you could be sueing him.

Unfortunate as it is, private vehicles are "sold as seen". If you buy a dodgy car the previous owner will just say "well you came to inspect it, and you were happy".

Sucks I know, but thats about the only positive from buying used from a dealer, they have to do a thorough inspection and provide a warranty with a used car...

yeah you live and learn dont ya, i guess atleast when this is done and the with the other shit ive fixed on it it will be a reliable car that will hopefully not give to many more headaches DESPITE COSTING A SHIT LOAD i drove back from DI like 50ks along the motorway, by the feel of things it was starting to lock the steering or poping in and out when i was home so im indeed lucky i got it in the shop when i did.

at the moment a spring for one of the hubs or a whole new hub, currently got 3 ppl i can get one off but my uncle (mechanic) reckons his got one on the way neway. the hub was missing the spring and thus not unlocking even when on "free" hence noises in 2wd unlocked on drivers side. all drivers side stuff was pretty much F'd where only wheel bearing was shot on passengers. which leads me two a question when 4x4ing and then hittin the bitchumen for a bit (say less then 2k) b4 4x4ing again should u always unlock or just leave it locked 2wd?? just want opinoins for future reference

Leaving it locked is fine. Leaving it in 4wd is bad.

Your front centre is open so there is no stress at all on your CVs or front driveline in 2WD hubs locked.

this is what i thought, soo im confuced when i was in 2wd unlocked but my F'd hub was locked it was making clicking noises and this was the side where the CV was F'd... was the clicking noise the CV as it was soo buggered or will it neva be the CV makin noise in 2wd ever?? sorry just want to learn

if your driver side hub was locked the CV is spinning with the wheel so it will click.

You just thought it was unlocked.

Some people lock their hubs in a little bit before they get to the tracks to slop some oil around in there.
