ok im in the process off pulling off my stock extractors and putting on the new shiny item i have, 1 lowsy stripped bolt underneath to go lol.

i have a 1985 1.3ltr hightop sierra im just wondering if anyone might know what mufflers and such i have to put on to comply with emissions or does my car just scrap out of it?. all it has now is a lil resonator thingy "not a cat-convertor" and 1 single muffler can i do away with the resonator and just have the muffler for my new system?

Legally you don't need a cat converter....
BUT
You are running unleaded fuel and should really fit one so that emissions are converted into notsoharmfull stuff...
It's only $100 or so and you can 'do your bit for the environment' and if you ever do get a nosey copper trying to defect you.. well he won't get you for no cat.

Better to put a cat on !
If he is putting extractors onto standard exhaust he isnt going to get much, if any benefit, if he is are putting on a 2inch system, all the better, but i was quoted $250 for a 2inch cat, how can you get one for $100 ?... but i guess it depends on who you know as to the price...

I would check but I believe the Cat Convertor was made a compulsory component in January 1986, when ADR 37 was introduced. Not sure on the leagalities of not fitting a Cat Convertor to cars before this 1986 even if they came out with them from factory.
My suggestion is if it came with one then probably easier and less hassle to just to reinstall it.

However I wish I didn't have to put one back in my zook.

my lwb has no resonator and a 1 3/4 system. it sounds like a dirty old gemini with a 2 inch system. leave the reasonator on there i say.

Just got mine back this afternoon from getting a new system.
ended up with Headers, new Cat Convertor and a single muffler at back, the rest is straight through 2" pipe.
Driving it home it surprised me how quiet it was. Could hear exhaust noise in the cab but certainly nothing too bad.
When talking to guy at exhaust place he did suggest anything over 2" and it would start to be too loud and was his opinion that 2" is more than enough for a 1.3L

I got a 1.75" system on mine ... 4-1 extractors for bling, cat, muffler and resonator. I seriously can't imagine my little 1.3L being restricted by a 1.75" and while it has a nice growl at idle it is dead quiet on the highway. No droning, no noise at all. Sweet! =)
