just wondering is there much off road difference having extended shackles and does it make your car more comfortable off road ?

It adds Tyre clearance and cheap lift more then anything. Anything over 2.5" will make it unstable on and off road and make it a faily rough ride.
That is just from trial and error on my zook. I am sure others have found different though.

My room mate has climax shackles in the rear. I have standard shackles in the rear. I run 31s SPOA he is now on 32s SPUA all up without rear shocks he has around 3" more travel them me.
Do they work yes. Are they worth the money/cop bait on a daily driver Hell no. If its a weekend basher ans you get them cheap then yahh they are.
I would only run them on the rear. Having them on the front yes they will give you crazy flex but on road they can open up under heavy braking and cause big problems.

extended shackles allow more leverage against the bushes so if they were a problem to begin with then you can net more flex through that, but there are other ways to fix that

Drop shackles can be explained with simple maths, they allow the shackle end of the spring to move further away from the chassis, by whatever the difference is between a stock shackle and a drop shackle open, this in turn allows the diff to drop about half that amount, so if they are 4 inches longer open then you get 2" at the diff, there is no other black magic about it and imho there are better ways to spend your money to get wheel travel

i have a pair of boomerang shaped shackles (extended 50mm) and a pair of straight shackles (extended 50mm). You can have them for $80, ill throw in $40 worth of bolts and nylocs for an extra $20.

just remember, if you do a shackle extension, change the shocks @ the same time. dont believe the "you'll be ok unless you go offroad" comments, i changed my shackles to a 2" longer one, that gave me a 1" lift. did a U turn in someone's driveway, and snapped a rear spring, the main spring, right in front of the diff, and had 2 drive like 50 K's home through the hills, goin 20 with the hazard lights on.

i also noticed, when i replaced my spring and put the standard shackles in, the ride was a bit sharper on the bumps, but my steering was more responsive.
