The carby on my 89 zook is playing up. It runs really rough when cold and also idles bad. I tried carby cleaned but no luck. Would I be better off with getting it rebuild or should I swap it for a Vit Carby? You input would be appreciated cheers |

spray the shit out of the jets with carby cleaner, rev manually high round 4000, then cover carby with a rag until it nearly stalls take rag off and revs will pick back up etc do this several times and it will clean it out works a treat |

The Zook carby does need to be tuned every so often, when i got my Vit in 08, it ran like a sick dog, i took it to a Zook mechanic, he spent an hour on it, and then tuned the engine to match, and it ran heaps better afterwards, i also ran some fuel treatment that cleans the fuel system, i do this on regular basis, and it runs very well, but i am pretty sure this is the original carby, so it is getting old, will have to look ar getting a fully rebuilt one, or a performance Weber carby fairly soon... |

1st thing you check with a sierra carby is the choke. make sure its working and working at the right time. if its running bad when cold it might not be closing enough when cold to make the mixture richer and bad at idle when warm is prob the same problem but not opening. |

first thing you should do is disconect everything related to the sierra carby and place it in the bin......then bolt up a vit one. |
